“My single, previous experience with colonics had left me indifferent at best. I've realized that the difference this time lay with the practitioners. Tara was not only warmly affirming. She intuited the next touch with the confidence of a true healer, one who knows her craft well. Her attunement could have only come from having experienced a great amount of healing experience. I was moved by the transformational possibilities and gratitude for being there to receive them. It is surely too bad that this age old healing art is not used in conjunction with colonoscopies and other western medical procedures.A vital organ like the colon should be brought into recognition for good health and well-being.”

“Tara has been my Natural Health Care Provider for over 10 years now. She is a wealth of knowledge in the many modalities she works with, and has a depth of understanding how to integrate natural healing with the body.

I experienced my first colon cleansing in the mid-1970’s at the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, with Ann Wigmore. I have continued the treatments through the years, and I think it is safe to say that my biological age is younger because of colon therapy. I have been blessed with unusually good health, and know first- hand the benefits of a clean and happy, healthy colon! I have worked with many therapists through the years, and can confidently say, Tara is the best!

The extras are she is also a genuine, compassionate, and caring Healer. She will put you at ease every step of the way, answer questions, share information and truly listen to what you have to say.

Oh, and then there is the nurturing part! I very much look forward to my appointments for the cleansing, foot and a light tummy massage to assist in the process, and a chair massage with electrolyte drink in hand. I always leave refreshed and rejuvenated!

We are truly blessed to have Tara in our area, spreading Love and Light and assisting us along our way!”

  • Testimonial written by an 30 year young female college student who prefers to be kept anonymous:

I can't begin to say enough about Tara. She is just the most nicest, generous person!

I felt immediately at ease when first talking to her over the phone. Being that the topic matter was a bit unusual for me, feeling comfortable with the person who was going to do my first colonic was very important to me. Upon meeting her in person, that comfortable feeling deepened as I now consider Tara a friend. My first colonic session with her went very smoothly. She takes the time to explain everything, answering any questions and addressing any concerns that come up. Physically, the whole session was quite comfortable as well. During which, Tara gently asked if I had been experiencing any itching in the rectal area. My jaw dropped, not because she asked but because she was right!

It turns out that I still had pinworms that were before misdiagnosed by my regular doctor. I would have still been continuing to apply an ointment for a problem that didn't exist had Tara not recognized the worms and said something. I am so thankful that she did, as I immediately sought proper care for the worms and am now itch free, not to mention a few pounds lighter. Colonic therapy really is positive addition to maintaining my health.

    Thank you Tara!

  • Doing an internal cleanse was one of the best things that I have ever done for myself. I found the benefits of eliminating unwanted waste material from my body to be so great that I have done three internal cleanses during a one and a half year period.

I decided to do the first internal cleanse after I was scheduled for hemorrhoid surgery. I had a fear that if I had a bowel movement soon after surgery, it would not be a pleasant experience. I read several books on colon health to help me determine how to get my colon in the best possible shape before the surgery. Because these books recommended colonic irrigations for optimum colon health, I decided I should have a colonic irrigation before the surgery and so I called a hydro therapist listed in the phone book. The only hydro therapist listed was booked solid for about three months, so she referred me to Tara, who was relatively new in town as a colon hydro therapist and whose name was not yet listed in the phone book. After consulting with Tara, who gave me more literature on colon health including Dr. Bernard Jensen’s book: “Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management”, I arranged for a series of three colonics before my surgery including one a couple of hours before the scheduled surgery. (I reasoned that because I normally had a bowl movement only once every three or four days, I would be well on my way to healing after the surgery before I had my first post surgery bowel movement).

My wife drove me to the doctors office for the surgery, but the doctor was not able to make it-he had been called away for a medical emergency. Another surgery date was scheduled for the following week.

I had been reading Dr. Jensen’s book and the healing benefits that his tissue-cleansing plan claimed and reasoned that if I followed his seven-day fast with colonics, maybe I could heal my hemorrhoids.

So I began my first internal cleanse. I fasted for seven days while following the program developed by Dr. Jensen. Every three hours (from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm) during the seven-day fast, I drank a mixture of bentonite clay and psyllium husks to help absorb and remove toxic materials from both my small intestine and large intestine. . One and one half hours after taking this cleansing drink and then every three hours, I took supplements that included calcium, niacin, vitamin C, essential fatty acids, alfalfa tablets, dulse, and digestive enzymes. With these supplements I drank flax seed tea to both lubricate and heal my digestive track.

Several hours after beginning the fast, I developed a headache and I began to feel sick all over. I knew from the books I read on colon health that this was the result of toxins being released in my body that were not being eliminated from my body. I gave myself an enema and my headache and sick feelings went away. Because colonics are so much more effective, easier, and actually enjoyable, I had scheduled a series of daily colonics beginning the next day. I continued with daily colonics during the fast and supplemented occasionally with enemas only if I needed them.

I also continued my usual regime of aerobic exercise. I ran or rode an exercise bike for 30 minutes every day. I believe this was very important in helping to eliminate toxins during the fast.

During the fast I generally felt very good. I felt light and at times light headed, but I had plenty of energy. At times, as toxins built up in my body between colonics, I found it difficult to concentrate. I worked at my job during most of the fast but then decided to take two or three days off toward the end of the fast.

After about four or five days of fasting, during the colonics, I began to eliminate black rubbery material similar to that described in Dr. Jensen’s book. I was completely amazed at what I saw leaving my body and I was elated to be getting rid of it.

During the fast, I had a sense of well being that increased as time went on. Toward the end of the fast my thinking was very clear and I felt peaceful. I had lost about ten pounds, my skin texture and color improved, and my hemorrhoids were no longer bothering me.

My wife took me to the second scheduled hemorrhoid surgery appointment and I went into the surgery room. After my doctor examined me, he said he could not see any reason to perform hemorrhoid surgery because my hemorrhoids had healed so well.

After completing the fast, my body only wanted healthy food. I drank vegetable juices and ate salads and fish for several days after the fast. I no longer drank coffee because my body no longer wanted any. My energy level improved noticeably and the frequency of my bowel movements increased to once per day. I felt much happier.

But as time went on, I began introducing unhealthier foods into my body and after a few months my digestion was not so good any more. My hemorrhoids began bothering me again.

About six months later, I did a second internal cleanse. This cleanse was similar to the first cleanse, but more of the impacted waste material was eliminated earlier during the seven days of fasting. My sense of well-being was significantly greater than after the first cleanse. Toward the end of the cleanse, when I felt like I had completely eliminated all of the waste material from my body, I experienced a sense of inner calmness that I have never experienced before.

After this second cleanse, I have continued to eat mostly healthy foods and a minimum amount of unhealthy foods because my body wants healthy foods.

But after each internal cleanse, after a few months, my digestion regressed back toward the condition that existed before the internal cleanses. About two months ago I found out why. I will tell why below, but first I will give some background information about my health.

I have had stomach problems for almost as long as I can remember. When I was seven or eight years old, I had a terrible stomachache that lasted three or four months. I was in terrible pain and did not know what was wrong. Over time the pain became less, but it was always there. And, as long as I can remember, my body has cycled between feeling good and feeling tired and listless. And as long as I can remember, my stools have alternated between hard and soft. Until recently, I thought this was normal.

When I was 22 years old, I was diagnosed with having a duodenal ulcer. When my medical doctor asked me how long my stomach had been hurting, I said that it has always hurt. My doctor recommended that I change my diet to eat bland foods and to stop worrying so much. Over time the ulcer seemed to have healed, but I still felt bad much of the time.

When I was about 30 years old, my medical doctor (a different doctor) said I had a spastic colon and that I had celiac sprue. He did not know what caused spastic colon. He said the celiac sprue, which is an inability to digest gluten in wheat (and some other grains) causes an inability to assimilate nutrients. He said it is genetically inherited. He recommended that I not eat wheat and other grains that contain gluten. So for several years I ate no gluten containing foods and it did not make any difference. Then I began eating wheat and other gluten containing foods again and nothing changed.

I spent years trying to find out what was wrong with me and why I felt bad much of time. I read books on candida albicans, and I concluded that I had this yeast overgrowth infection. I tried not eating dairy, wheat, sugar, coffee etc. as the literature recommended, but this did not help significantly.

When I was about 40, I read a book on heavy metal toxicity and mercury poisoning and concluded that I must have mercury poisoning. I then had the mercury amalgams removed from my teeth and I had a molar with a root canal extracted. A few years later, I read more books on mercury poisoning and chelation therapy and discovered that the mercury could be removed from my body. I went to a naturopath who confirmed through testing that my mercury levels were much too high. Through his guidance, I underwent two to three years of oral chelation therapy. My health increased significantly from this therapy, but I still had problems with my digestion, and I still did not feel good much of the time.

On several occasions, when visiting Tara, she mentioned that I could possibly have a problem with parasites. I did not think so because I had supposedly rid myself of parasites several times over the past three years using over the counter type parasite cleanses that used natural herbs.

Then my naturopath recommended that I be checked for parasites. I sent stool samples and saliva samples to a lab that specialized in parasite detection. The lab used relatively new tests that checks for parasite antigens. This testing method is supposedly much more accurate than physical microscopic tests used by many other labs. The sample tests resulted in positive tests for two protozoa: Giardia Lamblia and Entamoeba Histolytica; and a bacteria: Helicobacter Pylori. I believe I ingested these parasites when camping and drinking out of streams as a child, and they have been with me ever since.

The H. Pylori bacterium is now known by the medical profession to cause duodenal ulcers, but at the time I was diagnosed with my ulcer 30 years ago, the cause was not known.

Tara gave me literature to read about parasites including a book called “The Parasite Menace”, by Skye Winetraub, N.D. In her book, Dr. Winetraub indicated that giardia mimics symptoms of celiac sprue because giardia causes malabsorption of nutrients (the giardia eat first leaving me with what is left over). And because of this malabsorption, undigested food tends to enter the large intestine, feeding candida albicans overgrowth.

To eliminate these parasites, I was treated with antibiotics (metronidazole and yodoxin). One of the side effects of the antibiotics is headaches and nausea, which I experienced. I believed that these symptoms were the result of the antibiotics killing all of the bacteria in my body, the good as well as the bad, creating toxins from the die off of the bacteria. This belief compelled me to do a third internal cleanse, from which I experienced immediate relief from the headaches and nausea after the first colonic.

Since the completion of the antibiotic treatment and third internal cleanse, I no longer have stomach pain or loose stools. My digestion problems have improved significantly. I have no cravings for coffee or sugar and I prefer healthy foods to unhealthy foods. Instead of my previous bowel movement frequency of once every three or four days, I now have one or two bowel movements a day. I no longer cycle between feeling good and feeling bad-I feel good all of the time. My ability to concentrate has increased and I have a higher overall energy level.

Tara has been instrumental to me in my return to health. In addition to providing colonic irrigations, she has supported me in many other ways. She has educated me by passing on her knowledge and health related literature. And she has given of herself by listening to my health problems and concerns, by giving me guidance while helping me through the internal cleanses, and by giving me her complete attention when I am with her. I have been very impressed with her thoughtful and considerate support and I am eternally grateful to her for all of her help.

  • Colon Hydrotherapy with Tara Alder has changed my life for the better in dramatic ways. I am so happy and enthusiastic about the results that I achieved that I have become a real power pooping advocate. It never would have happened without Tara’s help and support, so I agreed to write this testimonial for her. But let me start at the beginning.

I have always exercised vigorously, but found it hard to lose weight. Over the past five years I had become fat and out of shape, my diet had devolved into a feeding frenzy of fatty, meaty and cheesy ecstasy, and my attitude was uncaring. “Hey, your body changes when you turn forty, it’s just harder to get into shape,” I told myself. Indigestion, gas and staying up late due to an upset stomach were normal things for guys my age, I thought.

At 230 pounds, I was still able to fight in karate tournaments against other black belts and easily hold my own -- but my body didn’t feel as good. It ain’t easy being athletic when you’re thirty five pounds overweight. It was even hard to bend over, due to my solid-but-quite-large abdomen getting in the way. So, last year, I decided to change my lifestyle and give myself a mid-life tuneup. I cut back on the bad food and started running again. After about five months I was feeling more fit but found it hard to maintain a quality diet. And, I had lost only a few pounds -- when what I really wanted was to lose thirty pounds or more.

So I took a more drastic step. I went on a fruit-and-salad diet for a week. After two days, I was crapping out a lot of nasty stuff, and I lost a few more pounds. It felt great, but I knew there was more to go. I decided to get a colon cleansing.

I had known of colon hydrotherapy for many years. I spent twelve years in the supplement and natural foods industry, and was aware of the many over-the-counter colon cleansing products. I had read about colon hydrotherapy many times. I was sure it would be beneficial, but I was reluctant to visit some stranger to have a tube inserted into my rectum. But I was serious about my lifestyle and dietary change, and decided that colon cleansing was a big step that would help me prove to myself that I was serious about reaching my goals. I did some Internet searching, found the IACT site, and called Tara Alder, the only certified colon hydrotherapist in our area.

I was immediately put at ease by her supportive and nonjudgmental demeanor. After talking with her, I agreed to a three-session package deal. The sessions were comfortable and even pleasant, and I was very impressed by the amount of nasty looking stuff that came out of me.

After three sessions, I felt like a new man. I lost several pounds of weight, but more important were the changed in my digestion. My gas and indigestion went away, and that feeling of being perpetually “full” in the middle went away too. I could bend over with no discomfort, and pleasure that I had not experienced in years. I tightened my belt a notch.

Wait a minute, Tara told me. You’re not through yet. If you think that’s something, you should do an intestinal cleanse.

Now, I had never heard of such a thing. But after a talk with Tara and reading the book by Loree Taylor and looking at the pictures in Bernard Jensen’s book, I agreed to attend a meeting for people considering a seven day fasting cleanse. At the meeting, a very respectable fellow named Rod told a story about doing the same program with impressive results. He told us that he had eliminated many feet of hard, rubbery material just like the gooey stuff in the pictures. Rod was not a “woo-woo” kind of guy, but intelligent and educated. I found his story to be convincing, and signed up for the program immediately.

It was not the easiest thing I’ve done. While I never experienced any hunger pangs or serious loss of energy, it was very challenging to avoid all food. I had strong psychological cravings. It was also quite a bit of work to take all of the supplements that were recommended. I talked daily of quitting the fast. Seeing Tara for my daily colon hydrotherapy session was a key step in keeping me on track. When my wife and friends started objecting to all of my bowel movement talk, Tara was always willing to listen to one more poop story -- and that was very helpful.

Still, at the end of day four, I though I was all cleaned out. I had eaten only salad and fruit for a week, and nothing at all for four days. Lots and lots of nasty looking stuff had come out of me during my sessions, but the flow had almost come to a halt. I was pretty sure there was nothing left. I strongly considered quitting at that point.

But that night, I had what felt like indigestion all night, like a big meal was moving through my system. It actually kept me awake for hours. The next morning I sat on the toilet and out came over three solid feet of matter. It wasn’t poop, it was something else. It was dark and convoluted like the pictures in the Jensen book. It lay there in the toilet looking back at me. So, I reached in and picked it up.

Man, that stuff was nasty. It was a hard, rubbery and slimy tube two to three inches in diameter. It was hollow, with an opening through the middle as big around as a pencil, a very narrow opening that I realized was the primary conduit for all the food that I ate. I swung it around like a jump rope and it didn’t break. I had at last eliminated some of my intestinal lining.

I was elated! Actually, I was horrified, shocked and sickened. I mean, I was really happy that stuff wasn’t in me anymore. But I was disgusted that it had been there at all. Needless to say, I vowed then and there to finish the fast all the way to the end.

That day during my colon hydrotherapy session, I passed at least another ten feet of the same stuff while on the table, and another five or six feet worth into the toilet afterwards. I lost eight pounds in about an hour that day, and it wasn’t body fat folks. The next day, day six, I passed yet another huge amount of the same stuff and lost another five pounds. I seriously considered continuing the fast for more than seven days, but on day seven I resumed eating.

All told, I lost 24 pounds over a two week period that included my initial three colon hydrotherapy sessions followed by the seven day fast. My digestion is now in hyperdrive, and whatever I eat is turned into energy so easily and quickly that I can feel it happening. No gas, no indigestion. My abdomen feels nearly empty, and I have seen impressive increases in my flexibility and stamina now that I don’t have an extra 24 pounds of stuff inside me. My workouts have improved quickly. My attitude about life has improved, too. My weight has remained very stable, and I weigh the same now as I did at the end of day seven of the fast. My diet has improved dramatically, because I cannot imagine ruining all of my hard work by munching on junk food. My family has even come to appreciate the constant flow of fresh fruit and salads. I have tightened my belt three notches, and I need to buy some new clothes that fit better. I could go on about the positive changes, but you get the picture. I am now planning to go through the seven day fasting cleanse again. If there is any chance at all that more of that nasty crap is inside me, I want it out.

None of these desirable and impressive changes would have happened without Tara’s assistance and motivation. She did me a truly great service that has changed my life, and I am very grateful. Keep up the good work, Tara.

  • I recently completed my second week-long Otara fast, with results that were as equally impressive as my first go around. I’m writing this follow-up testimonial for Tara Alder to use to inspire and motivate any of her clients who may want to undertake this program.

After my first week-long fast, I had eliminated about 25 pounds of nasty, black-and-green ropy matter. To say I felt better is a vast understatement. It simply changed my life for the better, and turned me into somewhat of a colon cleansing evangelist. I went to several parties where the entire focus of the evening became the telling and retelling of my power-pooping experience in all of it’s eliminative glory (or is that gory?). Virtually everyone who heard the story -- mostly folks age 35 and up -- wanted more information. What I learned from this is that bathroom talk is not the taboo you may think, especially not for mid-life folks who want to regain their youthful vigor.

In spite of how great I felt, Tara assured me that there was bound to be more nasty buildup in my intestines. So, about seven weeks after my first fast, I started the second fast. I was not particularly looking forward to the event. After all, I enjoy eating as much as the next person. And a colonic per day, while dandy, is not number one on my list of social activities. But if there was any chance whatsoever that there was more of that tarry black stuff inside, I was determined to get it out.

It was once again challenging, but not nearly so difficult for me as the first go around. Knowing what to expect helped. Tara’s unflagging enthusiasm helped, too. The most important motivation, though, was knowing the positive benefits that would accrue if I could see it through.

I went into the fast expecting to wait four or five days to see the first elimination of the bad stuff. In fact, it started coming out after less than 24 hours. It was the gawdawful crap, all right -- black and green, tube-like with a narrow opening down the middle, and hard like a thick inner tube. Instead of 3-5 foot lengths, however, it was coming out in 6 - 12 inch pieces with frayed ends. And even though it was hard, it was not as rock hard as the ropy stuff that I pooped out the first time around.

I have a theory about the difference. I think that originally, my intestine was lined with a solid, thick layer of the stuff. During my fast, large pieces of this solid, long tube broke off and were eliminated. This left chunks inside that had broken or frayed ends, which were able to absorb water. This softened the left-over chunks and, when I began another cleansing fast, made it easier to eliminate them. The entire process was greatly aided by the fact that my diet had been very good during the period between the fasts.

In any case, there was a steady volume of material, with several days where the total “flow” was quite impressive. By the end of the sixth day, the material stopped coming out, so I stopped the fast.

The results? I feel even better than before! My metabolism simply screams along at high speed these days. Whenever I eat, I can feel my energy level soar through the roof within minutes. On top of that, I lost five more pounds, making my total weight loss during the two months to thirty pounds. I look better, I feel better, and my body sure works better.

My diet has permanently changed for the better, too. And my workouts seem more effective, creating more changes in my body in a way that didn’t happen as easily before my fasts. You want more? My outlook on life in general is more positive. Losing a bunch of weight and regaining youthful energy makes everything better, period. I’ve won respect from friends and acquaintances, especially those who would like the same results for themselves. I went out and bought new clothes, because none of my old ones fit anymore.

I could go on. But instead, I’ll leave you with this. Do it. Do it now. Don’t waste the next twenty or thirty or forty years of your life feeling like hell because you have a nasty, clogged colon. Blow your colon, lost the weight, and feel better. Your life depends on it.
